The purpose of the Assigned Security Responsibility Job Description Policy is:
- Identify the requirements of the Security Officer’s position and responsibilities.
Procedure: The Security Officer must demonstrate familiarity with the legal requirements relating to privacy and health care operations, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with and coordinate the efforts of technology and non-technology personnel.
The designated candidate should:

- Education: Baccalaureate degree in health information administration, management information systems, computer systems, electrical engineering or related field.
- Training/Experience: At least one year of experience in a similar position is desired. Experience in project management a plus.
- Certifications: HIPAA Security certification or similar certifications are desirable.
- Language: Fluency I English is a requirement. Additional expertise in other languages is desirable.
- Physical requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Standing for long periods of time; bending, reaching, and walking to review/establish connections; finger dexterity for accurate terminal input; visual acuity to work in front of video display terminal; ability to cope with heavy workload volume; ability to mind-block outside noise and traffics movement for concentration; ability to work in physically small and highly exposed traffic area.
Procedure: Once the appropriate team member has been selected for this position the following actions shall take place:
- Complete letter from management or its representative assigning Security Officer.
- Have the designated representative sign the Job Description (PD security Manager Form).
