DDoS Protection

Measures that keep services available during distributed denial-of-service attacks.

DDoS protection is a set of measures that detect and mitigate distributed denial-of-service attacks: attempts to overwhelm a service with traffic from many sources so that legitimate users can't reach it.

By absorbing or filtering attack traffic, DDoS protection preserves the availability of applications and ePHI. This is the same availability goal behind high availability and HIPAA's contingency requirements.
