Distributing traffic across multiple servers to improve performance and availability.

Load balancing distributes incoming network or application traffic across multiple servers, so no single server becomes a bottleneck or a single point of failure.

Besides improving performance, load balancing contributes to high availability: if one server fails, the balancer routes traffic to the healthy ones, helping keep applications and ePHI continuously accessible.
